Changing Life In Community Schools and a Better Future….
The smiles on a sponsored child’s face says it all…….
Charis Uganda focuses more on economic empowerment (women and the youth), basic education and literacy, sanitation and hygiene (schools and local people) and maternal and child health through empowering and encouraging younger mothers especially those who give birth under the age of 18.
Just to update you about our recent economic empowerment project that took place in May.
All the animals that were given to different women groups are ok, there is only one group whose one goat died. Those animals have not yet given birth, next year; we shall be having number of piglets and kids that will be distributed to other groups. We are making a strong follow-up on both projects.
As you are aware, we have been in schools carrying WASH training. And through these trainings, we have met a number of schools that need our support. We think that we can start with two schools, and the project name is called “The power of 35” meaning there is a power of $35, that twenty two dollars can change life for four children. Imagine if we get 100 people donating $35 each, thus changing life for 400 children in school.
We are thinking that if we buy desks (Chairs) for these children, it will create a comfortable learning environment for them. These children sit down on the floor as you can see in the picture above. It is hard for a child to have a neat work in such environment. Even the performances in class cannot be good, yet they are the future of tomorrow, hence coming up with idea of the power of 35, thinking that it can make a difference.
When it’s a rainy season, it is a challenge to them! Even when it is a season for dust, in case they get where to sit (Desks), they can easily control the dust by powering water on it.
Each desk cost eighty thousand Ugandan shillings and it can be shared by four children. So we are thinking that 100 desks can help two schools
Dear President and the team, we have identified a need, we kindly request you to think about it and put it into consideration. We shall be grateful.
May God bless you.
Children Sponsorship program
Report on Child Sponsorship, from Irene Nessozi, Charis Uganda Board Member, October 2018.
Some people have the food, but have no appetite; others have the appetite, but no food, to us with both, we should be thankful to the Almighty and be mindful of the needs of the others. That is why Charis Global Community Aid, think about the “African child”.
Growing up without any one caring about you is one of the hardest things that some children suffer emotionally, psychologically, spiritually and physically. What such children go through is a lot and what they need is “PARENTING THEM”. They need to be loved and cared for, and that is what Charis Global Community Aid does. We love, care, give a second chance and receive the innocent/rejected souls.
In our child sponsorship program, most of the children we get, we find them when they are school drop outs. And our role as Charis Global Community Aid is to give them a new hope and take them back to school. We educate them until they finish their courses and start a better life.
Many young girls in Uganda are forced into early marriages due to poverty and traditional cultures in some parts of the country. We discourage early marriage and early sexual engagements by carrying out guidance and counseling, taking them to schools and giving the career guidance and sexuality education.
Most of our sponsored children are orphans, others come from child headed families, poor back grounds, and some are from the streets that we take in. It makes us so happy seeing these children changing into better people. We thank all our partners, ‘’the good Samaritans’’ for adopting these children and for giving them a new life.
In different parts of Uganda, there are children who are hopeless, who do not have any one to care for them, We humbly invite you to join us and give a new hope to an African child. The children that we adopt, we are responsible for all their basic needs, school fees, moral and spiritual support.
Community Empowerment
Report on Community for Charis, October 2018.
We empower the community through modern farming; we train women and youths modern farming skills and boost them with garden supplies and domestic animals such as pigs, goats and chicken. A person whose interest is rearing pigs returns two piglets and for the goat, returns two kids which we give to other people.
This project has helped very many people, the single mothers are able to look after their families, the grandparents who are struggling to raise their grand children have benefited and the youth have also developed. Hence eradicating poverty.
Lwengo District has benefited a lot from this project and it will continue even in different parts of Uganda. Through this program, sanitation and hygiene has been improved because every family we visit, we train them how to improve on their sanitation and hygiene.
Every year we donate garden supplies to individuals, women’s groups and youth groups. This has really worked for the people of Uganda in Lwengo District, any donation made will highly be appreciated. Thank you for joining Charis Global community Aid to change life In Uganda.
